A 2.5×4 mm wedge wire is the size we get asked for most on candle and lateral screens. The first number is the wire width that faces the slot; the second is the leg length that welds to the support bar. A small change in either one moves the slot, so we hold both to a tight tolerance rather than eyeballing it.
We draw it from 304 or 316L stainless, bright-annealed for a clean surface, then cut to the length your wrapping machine needs. If your screen runs in water or anything with chlorine, go 316L — the extra molybdenum is what keeps it from pitting where the weld meets the bar.
