A wedge wire panel is two grids in one: V-profile wire carrying the slot, support rods carrying the load. The wires run one way, the rods the other, and every intersection is welded. What you get is a flat deck where the opening is a property of the wire section — not a gap that flexes.
That is the difference from woven mesh. A woven screen changes shape under load: the wires shift, the apertures ovalise, and the cut point you specified starts to drift within weeks. On a wedge wire panel the slot is bounded by the profile itself, so a 0.5 mm slot is still 0.5 mm after a season on a vibrating deck — the wire wears, but the geometry does not collapse.
Two decisions that shape the panel
Slot width sets the cut. Open area follows the slot and the wire pitch; going from 0.5 to 1.0 mm roughly doubles the open area at the same pitch. Support rod spacing sets the strength. Closer rods carry more load but eat open area on the underside, so the spacing should come from the duty — deck load, bed depth, impact — not from habit.
Where panels earn their keep
Dewatering and drain decks, sizing screens on vibrating machines, drainage floors under a bed of media, and feeders where a woven screen would tear. The V-wire surface also resists blinding: the slot widens inward, so near-size particles pass instead of wedging at the surface.

The wire itself is covered on the V-profile wedge wire 2.5 × 4 mm page, and the rods that carry the load on the support bar page. More sections are on the wedge wire page. For a panel, send the slot, the deck size and the duty — we will come back with a layout, not just a price.
