Triangular Wire 1.8 × 2.7 mm
The section most wedge wire screen tubes are wrapped with. A 1.8 mm face sets the slot, a 2.7 mm height keeps the wire from bowing into it.

1.8 by 2.7 is the section most screen tubes are wrapped with, and the reason is geometry rather than habit. The 1.8 mm face sets the slot. The 2.7 mm height sets how deep each wire sits before the next one lands on it.
Height matters because a screen tube is a pressure vessel in miniature. Every wire has to carry the load of the slot span beside it without deflecting into the gap. At a 1.8 mm face, 2.7 mm of height gives roughly 1.5:1 — deep enough to hold its line under flow, thin enough that the open area stays where the specification says it is.
Go shorter and the wires bow between support rods; the slot opens unevenly along the tube and the screen stops matching its rating. Go taller and you buy stiffness the job does not need, at the cost of open area and material.
What the drawing has to state
Face width, height, included angle and tip radius. The angle is usually 60° but changes with the slot: a narrower angle reaches deeper for the same face width. The tip radius is the quiet one — a sharp tip gives the cleanest slot, while a small radius of 0.1–0.2 mm stops the edge chipping during wrapping and welding. Tell us which you want; we do not pick it for you.

| Height | 2.7 mm typical (2.0–4.0 mm on request) |
| Included angle | 60° typical, custom on request |
| Tip radius | Sharp to 0.2 mm, per drawing |
| Tolerance | ±0.02 mm typical on face width |
| Surface | Bright-drawn, or bright-annealed |
| Supply | Coil 20–80 kg, or cut lengths |
| Use | Wedge wire screen tubes, drum screens, filter cartridges |
For coarser slots the V-profile wedge wire 2.5 × 4 mm carries more open area per metre. Finer work goes to 2 mm triangular wire. The full range sits on the triangular wire page.
