Custom Shaped Wire T-Bar
Stainless T-bar shaped wire drawn to your drawing. The cross bar locks into a seal groove so the section cannot pull out under vibration.
| Material | 304 / 316L stainless steel, aluminium on request |
|---|---|
| Size range | Bar width 3-12 mm, leg height 3-15 mm, wall 1.0-3.0 mm |
| Typical application | Seal carriers, frame stiffeners, trim, edge profiles |
| Cross-section | Square — also drawn to your drawing |
| Surface | Bright drawn, as required |
| Packing | Coil, spool or straight length |
A T-section exists for one reason: it will not pull out. Push a round wire or a flat strip into a rubber channel and it can slide, rotate or work loose under vibration. A T-bar locks into the groove — the cross bar sits behind a shoulder, the leg stays where you put it.
That is why T-profile wire turns up as the carrier inside EPDM and PVC seals, as a stiffener along frame edges, and as trim that has to stay aligned over a long run. The shape does the locating; the material just has to hold it.
What the dimensions actually do
The bar width sets how much shoulder the section can grip behind. The leg height sets how deep it sits and how much leverage it has against the seal. Wall thickness is a stiffness decision — thin legs flex into a curve, thicker legs stay straight over long lengths.
Specifications
| Material | 304 / 316L stainless steel, aluminium on request |
|---|---|
| Bar width | 3–12 mm typical |
| Leg height | 3–15 mm typical |
| Wall thickness | 1.0–3.0 mm |
| Tolerance | ±0.05 mm typical on bar width and leg height |
| Corner radius | Per drawing — radiused corners for seal contact |
| Surface | Bright-drawn, or bright-annealed for tighter bends |
| Supply | Coil, or straight lengths up to 3 m |
| Use | Seal carriers, frame stiffeners, trim, edge profiles |
If the T-bar has to bend around a corner, ask for the annealed finish — bright-drawn sections are stronger but crack sooner at a tight radius. More on that in our note on bright vs annealed.
Related sections: round-edge profile wire where the edge has to slide rather than lock, or the wider shaped wire range. To price a T-bar, send the drawing with the bar width, leg height and tolerance.
